We have learned with profound sorrow that the earthquake that struck near Rome the town of Amatrice and its vicinity resulted in the death of many scores of people, injuring others and causing material damage.

We wholeheartedly share the pain of the people of Italy, our friend and ally.

Turkey stands by the Italian people at this difficult hour and is ready to provide any assistance that may be needed.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families of those who lost their lives in the earthquake and to the people of Italy and wish a speedy recovery to the injured.
